In 2024, the approach of customers towards healthier snacks continues to evolve, with a clear shift towards healthier options. This year, no additives/preservatives (40%), no artificial ingredients (34%), and natural/clean labels (33%) are the top attributes that make a healthy snack, according to a consumer survey. Meanwhile, 61% report they always look for healthier alternatives to snacks.

Snacks with low or reduced claims for fat, sugar, and salt are gaining popularity, with 30% of consumers considering these as healthier options. Simultaneously, another 30% are looking for snacks richer in proteins, fibers, and vitamins.

Protein's Popularity in Snacking

Protein-rich snacks are increasingly popular, especially among 32-45-year-olds. Despite the continued popularity of traditional snacks like biscuits, chips, and chocolates, there's a notable shift towards healthier alternatives of these snacks as well.

Emphasizing protein-rich snacks, especially in offices and retail outlets, can tap into the growing demand from health-conscious consumers, particularly those aged 32-45. By aligning our offerings with these trends, we can continue to thrive in the dynamic snack industry.
